Day 8- I made it a week!

A week ago today I started this cleanse thing. I made it a week! I am out of the 20's with counting down. That was really driving me nuts- never thought I would get to the teens. :) So some of you have been commenting on my posts. Thank you so much for the well wishes and votes of confidence as I go through this cleanse. It really means a lot to have such wonderful friends. But I have also got some questions to answer from y'all, so here goes:

1. How much weight have you lost? Well, I weighed in last night and I have lost 5.5 lbs. so far. Yes, this is also a weight loss cleanse as well. Ol' Mel has packed on a few extra pounds over the years as well and so no better time to get healthy and get ahead of the game with the lupus as well as kick start a healthy lifestyle. I mean come on, I work at the world's leading health organization- I better walk the walk, right???
2. How many shakes did you drink in your first week? Another good question. I have had 15 shakes (I should be at 16 but I snoozed through one of my "shake dates" yesterday) :) I have also had enough chicken and turkey that I am starting to sprout feathers, a whole watermelon, a bazillion gallons of water, 3 heads of lettuce, and cucumbers and tomatoes to round out the list. Oh yeah, and the granola bar I cheated with yesterday- Dammit!!!
3. How's your poop? Yes, I have had friends that have asked me this question. OK, so the poop thing is a little weird and I'm not going to go into detail for all the weak-stomached folks-feel free to skip to question #4- but see, I have to answer to my audience; it was a legit question that I got (and I am only going to talk about poop once). Here goes: it's a lighter color and it smells like my shakes (pink lemonade)- it's like I am a baby right now- you know...when you are changing their diaper and you know just what they ate- yep, that's me. I'm not going to get into "does my poop float or sink," etc. I will let your sick minds visualize. LOL For those of you that work with me and you now run into me in the hallway or a meeting, I am sorry. Just smile, say hi and move on if I have made you uncomfortable- but hey, we all do the #2! But on that note- the cleanse has got me out of my office and socializing more. That's because I PEE ALL THE TIME! I've talked to more of my female colleagues in the bathroom in the last week than I have all year. But then, I hope they don't think I have something wrong with me because I am running to the pottie every half hour. :)
4. How do you choose your topic to blog about? I usually comes to me during the day and I jot it down and then when I get home I write about it. It's amazing how you can really write about your day. I have really enjoyed blogging. This has been therapy for me and it really helps me stay on track with the cleanse- as well as entertain my friends with my "daily happenings".

Those are just a few questions that I have received so far. If you have questions for me, send em to me via the blog, facebook, put a sticky note on my desk, I will be glad to answer them!
Thanks to you all and have a good evening- signing off!! Bis dann (Good bye in German)
